2011 screw 3.5 eb..Trucks got 202k on it. Got a bank 2 sensor 1 fault. Figured I would just change both #1's. One of them, bank 1 looks normal to me bank two looks sooty like i might have a problem. What do you guys think?
Sensor goes out it might be giving it to much fuel to try and compensate causing both the Plugs and O2 Sensor to carbon up. I would check the plugs on that side also, might need to be cleaned and the gap checked.
Thats not a bad idea. I was getting a gas smell in my oil to, so i changed the oil when i changed the o2 sensor thinking maybe it would clear that up too.
I've had to change both of my upper sensors and went ahead and changed all four over a 12 month period. The two uppers threw a code exactly one year apart. After the second one failed, I changed the bank #2 upper and both lower units.

Sorry, I had them done as I have a bum shoulder and had a hard time getting to the connectors.
My truck was throwing a code as the two upstream sensors failed a year apart. The sensors were covered in soot but my truck isn't using oil and there's no gasoline blow by in the oil and no gas smell.
In an earlier post it was mentioned that worn plugs could be a culprit.
