I am new to the 6.0, I have a 2006 f350. I just had my oil cooler replaced maybe 2000 miles ago. Driving around town 30 to 40 mph it maintains a 3 to 4 degree difference. When I hit the hwy and go 70+ mph it jumps to a 6-8 degree difference. Coolant temp 192 -194 degree the oil temp would get as high as 202 degree. Pulling nothing outside air 50 to 60 degree. Is this normal with a new oil cooler? It just makes me wonder what it's going to be when I pull my camper in 90+ outside temp. What is normal oil temp and what is getting to hot? This is cruise control set at 75.
I just did a 250 mile round trip on pretty flat freeway - kept it mostly in the 65 - 70 range as that was the least hassle (not keeping up with the all-gas and all brake left laners, and letting the trucks and other tow vehicles do their thing on the right). I'd hit a high of 8 or so deg between oil and coolant, mostly because the coolant would drop for a bit to 188. It usually gets stable in the 190.4 (don't you just love our digital real-time world?!) range. But the oil was sitting 196-ish or so... Empty and light on the throttle for most of the trip. Temps in the mid to high 70s...
Can't wait to put my fuel pressure gauge on to tell me my happy life is about to end... :-/
