Gasoila in bottom fuel filter 2005 6.0

Had delamination of fuel tank. Towed to garage. Garage replaced everything but only 1,3,5,7 injectors.

18 months later problem with number 2. Found Gasoila in fuel filter. Replaced 2.4.6.8 ourselves. Figured it was still fallout from delamination.

Four months later missing intermittent after running 45 minutes. Code p266 on number two. Found Gasoila in fuel filters. Cleared code. Did not come back. Changed filters. Probably less than 1000 miles in four months. Some under load. Most trips under 30 minutes.

is it the injector already? Or is the Gasoila the cause?

Are you referring to Gasoila thread sealant?

Yes. Figure that the garage that replaced tank and pump and 1.3.5.7 injectors and added blue spring must have used Gasoila thread sealant. Distinctive robins egg blue green. We never used any.

The type that you are describing is soft set PTFE based. We use different kinds of that stuff at work. I am not diesel man myself but, I am wondering if the diesel is washing it out? I also do not understand why they would use that on compression fittings, JIC fittings if used, or fittings with o rings. Some types will set up so hard that you will pull threads out of pipe when you try to break the fittings.

Since the garage did the work I don’t know where they used the Gasoila. All I know is either it came with the truck (we are original owners) or the garage used it. Never saw it on previous filter changes.

Should I be concerned or just keep spending $60 every three months on filters?

trip to mountains with camper scheduled for three weeks.

Hopefully someone from the diesel community will chime in. I have had diesels in the past and I have never even heard of using Gasoila in any automotive application. I am far from an expert though.
