ATS X/B code springs towing

2000 Ex 4x4 with 7.3 PSD.... stock hitch says 5k lbs regular and 10k lbs weight distributed. So if X/B code springs were installed that should increase the regular (non-weight distributed) tow capacity correct?

Your hitch and hardware are limited to 5/10k. Changing the suspension doesn't change the sticker classification.

You can upgrade hardware and go up to 6/12k like the 2002+ or get a larger Curt hitch.

I was hoping the 5k was due to the softer springs which have a lesser capacity

5 k sounds like you are using the bumper hitch and not a receiver hitch?

Factory Receivers were/rated for 5/10k lbs for 99-01 F250, F350 and 00-01 Excursions.

Ford upgrading from M14 to a M18 added a couple thousand pounds for towing capacity.

Sounds like you may need to go read your hitch sticker......

All EXs came with same receiver hitch, the leg model wagons had the mounting hardware size increased which increased the hitch ratings, that larger hardware should still be available from Ford.
Or you could go with a heavier rated hitch from the aftermarket. My TorkLift SuperHitch has a 20K rating.
