Are you positive you are hitting the unlock button for the doors 1st then hitting the tailgate button? If your truck is running the doors need to be unlocked 1st. If you parked the vehicle and shut off the engine without opening the doors you have to unlock the doors 1st also. If you parked, shut off the truck and opened the doors you just need to press the tailgate button. In short, just press the door unlock button then the tailgate when you are parked to open the tailgate.

It should work when the truck is parked (running or not) and the doors unlocked. It does not.
