I just picked up my truck yesterday from having these done, along with one or two others. I skipped the LED downgrade.
I never had any issues with my tailgate, though. So, I’m the wrong guy to ask about that. I did have several fires in my truck due to the tensioners; I look forward to that being reduced to something more manageable.
A 17 foot truck? Wow, must be a custom frame or something!
Rather than title your thread “Recalls,” which could mean one of about 2,762 different things, I recommend you choose a title that actually describes your question: “Did the tailgate recall fix the problem” or something similar. Then, people know immediately what you want. Nonsense titles like “Recalls” won’t get you as many responses and ultimately hurts the continuity of the forum.
My 2018 is going next Tuesday for the 2 recent recalls.
19S52 - Seatbelt pre tensioners cause a fire
19S48 - Unintentional tailgate opens
Has anyone had these done? Any more issues with the tailgate since the recall was completed?
I've had the tailgate open over twice the last 2 years.
Mine went in two weeks ago for the LED's, Tail gate, steering stabilizer and seat belt. They only had it a day due to parts not being avail to fix the tailgate or the stabilizer. They quoted me 6-8 weeks. If it ever stops snowing, I am replacing the garbage factory stabilizer with the Fox sitting in my garage.
I have had my tailgate drop several times while the 5th wheel was attached. I go in next week for the recall fix. Trouble with this kind of fix, it could take a couple of years to know if it is fixed or not as the conditions for the drop seem random. Our worst was on a rather narrow road as we headed to an RV park with sharp corners. Had just gone through a rainstorm and humidity was very high. 30 to 40 mph and it dropped. Thankfully, no damage.
I have mine scheduled to do the lights and carpet, but not the tailgate yet. They should be able to complete those 2 rather quickly, so I wont be without the truck for long. Also, I've never had the tailgate open unintentionally, so I'm not in a rush to have them do it.
Unless the tailgate is opening on it's own often, it will take some time to know if it works. Kind of a hack fix, but I'm sure it works.
Just had mine in the dealership for tailgate and door latch and block heater cord. They didn't do the door latch because mine never stuck and they didn't have parts for the tailgate fix. I will do the seatbelt retractor fix at work next week (we made the seatbelts). What is the LED one about?

What do you mean, you made the seat belts? The carpet/insulation rework is a simple one, the procedure along with the type of tape and where to source it is available online. The LED one has to do with the intensity, it involves reprogramming of the BCM.
If you do the fix at work, how do you get the dealer to sign off on it?
Cal, the company I work for provided the seatbelts for the Superduty, so I will just do the fix at work. I'm not replacing the seatbelt, just removing the NVH pad and adding non-flammable tape on to the carpet. Same approved fix as the dealership. I just want to wash my truck this weekend and vacuum out all the dog hair and get the dog snot off of the windows before I bring it into work. I guess my LED's are fine I didn't get any paper work for that one.

Thats cool. Will your dealer sign off on the recall after you do it? I pulled the trims, and cut the B pillar padding before taking mine in. I would have done the whole fix but didn't think the dealer would be ok with that.
I thought the LED recall was for all 18-19 Super Duty trucks with LED headlights. Some on here are opting to not have that one done, favoring the brighter lighting.
I’ve had both the carpet and tailgate recalls done. Tailgate had opened multiple times since May 2018. Canopy door kept from flowing open but wore thru the paint on both top corners of tailgate. Just had black vinyl strip put on tailgate to cover.
