I actually pulled a gauge cluster with tach, and the dizzy out of a Lincoln Y block to put in my 60. I heard the same thing, just switch the drive gears because they rotate in different directions. My problem was the governor on the Lincoln Y block dizzy. Have yet to find someone that knows how to resolve that.
The LYB 302-332 HD were reverse rotation engines due to a gear driven cam drive in lieu (Fr.) loo (Br) of a timing chain drive. I thought you meant a period PASS CAR LYB.
And I don't remember seeing the engine photo first time around but that could be ADVANCED CRS ...
The gear is a different tooth count. That has nothing to do with the rotation.
You'll probably have to take the distributor apart to see if there is a way / devise a way to disable the governor
I am referring to a Lincoln truck engine. I assure you the gears are cut different. I cut bait on the idea after it dawned on me the factory tach only went to 3K.

It may be that the HD TRUCK driven gear design is different than the PASS CAR ENGINE (due to direction of cam rotation).
The LYB HD SERIES ENGINES (all) were low RPM- HI-TORQUE. The LYB HD DIST was centrifugal only and vacuum used for the governor. (Maybe the earlier 279 - 317 were different as they used a timing chain)
I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do but the 57 BIRD DIST (DUAL ADVANCE) is about your only option unless you come on an early MALLORY or AUOTLITE model.
