I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get my hands on a tach drive distributor for an fe?
I want to run my moroso tach in my truck just for nostalgias sake....
I havent had any luck locating one... Did they ever make one?
Im almost sure they did with all the fe's that have been raced over the years..
Though when I think about it i've never seen one???
I also posted in the wanted section for one just hoping.....
I had a 391 awhile back that I could swear had a mechanical tach drive on the distributor. The distributor had 2 vacuum pots and a bunch of other bulky crap and the ft dizzys use a larger diameter shaft than the fe's, but you could probably make one work if needed. All I have left of the engine is the crank anymore. It was out of a '75 cabover 700 or something.
I would check on Ebay occasionally. I found a tach drive dizzy from a boat 427, it cost me like $30. It was a dual point YL model Mallory. I could convert it to electronic if I want, but not for now.
No one makes them anymore for an FE...I asked. Just poke around the swap meets or Ebay and you'll come up with one sooner or later.
I ran the older YC model Mallory in the race car(428) for years til it finally gave up the ghost. I found a newer YL model at the all ford Expo in Columbus. It was in perfect shape. I still run it today. I always like my mech. tach. No junk to go wrong!
