Radiator Fan

Hello all. I have a 2013 F150 XLT. I left my house about an hour ago and within 2 minutes the radiator fan kicked on. About 3 minutes later the temperature gauge went to Hot and the temperature light came on. It's approximately 45 degrees outside, the AC was not on and there is plenty of coolant in the reservoir. Any ideas?
