A guy on FB posted this. He may be a member, I have no way of knowing.
He made new, modern design F-1 badges for his F-1. Relatively cheap and simple.
At first I thought he machined some plastic or metal and made what I think are subtly modern looking badges of his own design but then he revealed the way he made them.
He bought, I think he said, 2004 F-150 emblems and whacked of the "50" These would look great on a resto-rod.
Pretty cool. If I were to make unique badges, I would assemble the individual letters and then make a mold. To cast the badge I would use resin with powdered metal mixed in. I went to a casting workshop years ago in N. Hollywood at Smooth-On where they demonstrated the process. Metals included steel, aluminum, copper, etc. I was some pieces that were made with copper powder and they had all the green patina that a solid copper piece would have...very impressive. On a truck with "patina" this badging would look great. On a painted truck, badging made with aluminum fill could be polished to make it look like new OEM badging.
