Sync screen goes black

Sync screen goes black
Hullo all. Shortly after I hit the road for some running around this morning, actually about a block from home, my Sync 3.4 screen went black. The radio was still playing, but nothing else worked, except the volume. I couldn't change stations, couldn't change media, nothing. It was just a black screen. I couldn't even turn it off or on. Since I was still in my neighborhood, I pulled over and shut the truck down so it would shut the radio off. Well, the radio kept playing, even with the key out, and I opened the door. After about a minute or so, it did finally shut down. I restarted the truck, and everything worked fine. And is still working fine. I'm not too worried yet, but could this be the start of the radio failing. I've read a few posts, but can't remember this specific issue being one. Suggestions welcome, but hopefully this is just a one time deal.

We had a similar issue in our 2016 Edge and after a few trips to the dealer then finally figured out it was the computer. I forget what it was exactly called. They first said it just needed to be rebooted but it kept getting worse and they finally did a more thorough test.

It did it on mine once, several months ago. At that time I tried turning the truck off and back on several times, but still black. It wasn't till after the truck sat off for maybe 30 min. that it returned to normal.

It should clear up on it’s own but if not, you should have the APIM checked by your dealer and yes, the system has to be acting up when you take it in.
