I just bought a new Super Duty XLT. One of the reasons I got the XLT was the USB port to listen to music with a data stick. I get the truck and plug my drive into the port and listen then I get home and later on get back in and it has went back to the radio instead of staying on the USB. This happens pretty much every time I get out and back in. It also does something weird when I try to get back to the USB it will scroll past it the first time. What I mean is push aux goes sat1, push sat2, push sat3, and push and then the USB right, no it goes back to sat1. I have to do this twice nearly every time. I called the Ford help and they said this was normal it would always default back to the radio after a period of time and tried to convince me that the missing the USB the first time was normal. Please tell me a $90 radio that I had in my other truck is not better than this factory radio, please tell me there is something wrong with the radio that is in there.
Mine used to do that a lot with my ipod plugged into the USB. Sometimes it will start with "Line In" and sometimes with the radio. For whatever reason it doesn't do it as much anymore, but still probably once a day. It also freezes sometimes which is annoying, but I've already taken it to the dealer and they don't do anything besides reset it.
I don't (haven't) used the USB port, but I put in an aftermarket Sirius module. When I go to one of the other bands (very very seldom), I usually have to go through the bands 2 times and finally get back to my Sirius setting. This drove me crazy until I finally figured out what was going on. I don't know why it does this, but it does. However, it does stay on the Sirius setting when I shut the truck down. It's only when I change bands (to FM or AM, or come off of streaming Bluetooth).
