So quick question. Anyone know if the dashmats on the market today have the flaps going down to match the dash pad. The section going down between the two bezels, and either side by the pillars? Cant find any pics of one on our trucks, and the pics I have found dont show that. They look like they only cover, and sit on the top flat part. Dont want my different color pad sticking out . The one that came with the truck fits, and covers great, but its blue, and there's no tag to see what company made it. Tried to dye it black but no luck
Yes ideally I would just get a new pad, as everything else inside has been restored to near new, but that will have to wait. As i have a whole list of mechanical upgrades to spend that cash on over the short summer that's almost here, not to mention $1000 on tires. Really happy with the mat in it for now, just want the drapes to match the new carpet
I have one on the silver truck from a long time ago and my wife ordered me one a while back for the blue truck.
Pay no mind to the old ball cap and notice the dash carpet underneath.
Neither that I have cover the center tip, let along the front edge at all.
That's what I am referring to. The carpet only sitting on top, leaving the downward parts of the pad exposed. The blue one I have covers everything, folding over the top would like to find a new black carpet that covers all of the pad until my wife calms down about the thousands I have budgeted for mechanical upgrades
Since you do not like the color difference and it did not dye out ok, than I'd guess you are going to convince the wife you need to get a new carpet cover that is the same color. If she does not like the cost of a carpet cover show her how much an actual NEW dash pad costs. Did you try to dye the old one with Rite dye?
Not even worried about the 40-50 bucks for a new cover. Just ain't ready to drop $300+ for a new pad yet. I remembered reading a thread a while ago about someone dying their carpet black, and I figured I would give it a try on the mat since I had a few bottles of black rit dye already. I put both bottles in a 5 gal bucket, filled with salty boiling water, a few cups of vinegar, soaked the mat in it for 4 hours , mixing about every 15 mins. Looked ok , though just really dark blue, until I rinsed. All the dye just came right out, and left it a few shades darker. At best. I found an actual pad, not a cap for $195, but for that price I question fit/quality.
