I watched my volts on my scanguage and it dropped to 11 starting but it started so fast may not be a good test. I also run high end odyssey batteries and have upgraded the battery cables already. I. Was very impressed with it.
In order to test you have to have a voltmeter that is capable of recording min volts, not just real-time. The real-time data is dampened by the display speed of the meter. I have one fluke that does, one that doesn't.
My fluke does but it’s just cold outside. The truck sat 2 days 40 degrees and raining. As soon as the glow plug light went off it fired in less than a second! Very impressed.
That thread makes my head hurt. I just put the damn thing in and the truck starts quickly. Not hating on Jack’s testing, it’s great info...I’m just ready to hear mine turn over and run again soon!!!
FP did you end up keeping your MG starter?

I know what you mean, lol. I read through it last night when I saw this thread. And for the record, the testing done there was mine, with Jack's guidance of course.
I sent it back. I was pissed about all the false advertising claims, and underwhelmed with the starting speeds. Ed gave me a full refund and edited his product page with a pic of the actual starter and some modification of the description. I put the old 273k mile OE starter back in and I'm perfectly happy knowing my batteries will last a little longer. I hope to be shopping for a new Denso 6.0 unit after the truck gets studded.
I saw that post and geez some people have more time than I do! I run odyssey AGM batteries with upgraded cables and a Bosh alternator. Mine starts VERY quick. No difference I can tell in voltage drop. Oil pressure and RPMs are what is required to start this truck and it hits almost instantly. I was just impressed with how fast mine started.
Some people around here make time to learn and inform others. And if you pay attention you'll notice it's those types who have the best answers and suggestions when someone has a problem.
I agree they are probably smarter than me. I used a scanguage the same one I’ve had for years. Very little change probably because it starts so fast. The Bosh I’ve had for 3 yrs. it’s been fine

my stock starter must have been going bad because the MG started it quick. I know I mentioned it in that thread and post a video of it. It really cranks in half a second, no more rurrr rurrr rurrrr start.
