8BA Flathead mounting

Working on getting it situated. There will need to be some modification to the transmission crossmember. Not sure yet how I will go about it.

I just cut the original transmission mount bolts.

It's a real tight fit, but it works. I fit the motor to clear the steering box so it's pretty high and a little far forward.I suspect the cross member will have to be notched when I move to an AOD.

I don't know how the transmission bolts are supposed to be removed, there's rubber blocks on the underside that i couldn't motivate out. One hell of a bonding, however it's in there.

Build update

Wow! I’m sorry I haven’t kept anyone in the loop. Been making progress. Rolling chassis is done, engine and tranny installed (after fabricating custom mount). Brake lines done. Drive line in. Milled out the walnut for the bed from a friend’s tree. Just needing to finish cab metal work and paint so we can hook things up. Test fit the new treads with fenders temporarily in place.

also included is my son’s little mishap with the angle grinder and subsequent visit to the ER. He’s ok. Coulda lost a thumb. Lessons learned.

He is 15. Needless to say he won’t do anything involving the angle grinder now.

nope. That’s the original crossmember. I modified it on its lower end with the fabricated tranny mount.
