Mid Fifty's build thread

Hello!

We are working on a truck right now, someone suggested making a build thread for it

We have tons of old trucks lining our property, so we picked a 53-55 that only had the frame and the cab since we knew we would be using all new parts if possible (we ended up not using the cab, more on that later)

Here are some of the parking lots

We started by stripping everything off of the frame and cleaning it up

Then we c-notched it just because we wanted to use our c-notch plates

Here it is right before going to the powder coater

Skip forward about a year or two to today, and here is what we have so far

Its been sitting around collecting dust for a while now, but recently we started working on it again

All new front and rear suspension
Front disc brakes, rear coming soon
New front clip pieces, well actually most of it is scratch n' dent parts
Polished stock style radiator
Tilt hood kit
Toyota power steering
Underbed gas tank
And bunch of other stuff, please ask if you have any questions

We removed the 53-55 cab that was originally on it and are going to replace it with a 56 cab that is in much better condition
While the cab is off we put a small block in it that came off a panel truck we had laying around.

I wouldnt guess what our future or final plans are for the truck, im sure what ever we think we are going to do to it will change.

The main reason for doing it is so that the girls can learn more by helping build it, and also we can test out new products on it.

I like the red frame, but can't understand the C notches unless you are flipping the axle or just wanted to put them in the frame. Do you sell complete project trucks out of your collection? There's a guy on here looking for a rust free project starter.

We might flip it in the future, but the main reason was an excuse to teach our employees about the c-notch and boxing plates we sell, how and where it goes etc.

No we can't sell any of the trucks unfortunately, we used to, but then ADOT yelled at us because we were buying and selling so many, and said we would have to get some sort of dealer license or permits

I have that exact same set up and once the cab and bed is back on the C notch will be needed. My truck had less than 3" clearance between the axle and frame.

It just hit me. When we are working on our projects, we thumb through your catalog and web site adding to our wish list. You ladies just look through all your stock and take it to your truck.

Keep the updates coming. You know how we love pictures.

When California falls into the Pacific (My wife wants a beach. ), I may have to come hit you up for a job. That looks like fun.

Thanks for sharing and welcome to the site.

A question on your front suspension. In the two pics of the front spring shackles, it looks like the springs are flexed out to the point the shackles are all the way forward and the spring eyes are resting on the frame. Is it just my eyes because it looks like they won't flex like that.

Just went out and jumped on it as hard as I could, the shackles don't touch the frame when flexing, the middle of the leaf spring is going to hit the frame before anything else, gotta have them put in a bump stop

So, do you grab a few Tootsie Rolls every time you grab parts? Oh, and the truck is looking good too.

The welding for the c-notch we had a professional do since its a pretty important weld, that was about a year or two ago, now we have our own machine shop on the property, so if we need anything welding done they should be able to do it.

Everything else, everyone just kinda works on it, or helps when they can. That is if they are not busy talking on the phone to our wonderful customers
