Another vote for Coopers. I recently picked up four Cooper Discover AT3's for $165 each from PepBoys. While i'm not a fan of PepBoys I couldn't turn down that deal. I gave up on BFG's when 3 of the 4 KM2's I had on my Rubicon had belt separation issues and knotted up in the center.

I ran Ridge Grapplers on my Excursion at one point and also liked them. I had 325/60/18’s.

Anything is is better than bfg’s. Lol.

I've got Cooper Discover ATP 265/75/16 on my truck. No complaints. Although I'll step up the size to 305 or 315 next time, if they will fit without lifting the truck.
My driving is probably 75% road to 25% on national forest roadways

Found this : https://broadmag.com/cooper-atp-vs-at3/

Last set of Michelin didn't make 40,000 miles.... that's what made me switch to Cooper.

I'm also trying to decide between the ridge grapplers and the Cooper at3 xlt. At first I was leaning towards the ridge grapplers, but they're more expensive and the ridge grapplers weigh roughly 10 pounds more PER TIRE than the Coopers. Now I'm really leaning hard towards the Coopers.

The size I'm looking at is a 295/75/16. In this size the Coopers weigh 58 lbs per tire. The ridge grapplers weigh 68.34 pounds.

I'm the odd man out. I ran across a set of tires at a small town shop. Centennial Dirt Commander. I purchased the 33 12.50 18 size. They are listed as a 12 ply tire. Can't quote you the mileage right now but they seem to be pretty tough. I really don't see much wear at all so far. But they are an MT.

Holy cow. These tires in 37" are cheaper than my milsurps. I'm switching!

That’s a good price but the 12 ply doesn’t mean much after looking at it. The 285/75r18 coopers I’m looking at are a 10 ply and they have the same weight capacity. Granted mine are 35s vs 37s but I’d expect a higher capacity with more ply. They’re cheaper than the coopers though

The more plies for the same load rating gives you a more supple ride, kinda like how 1000 thread count bedsheets feel better than 500 count

Kinda thought about that after the fact, but other than that is there really any benefit to it?

I have no idea if what I said is true or not btw. My tongue was firmly in cheek.
