Manifold/Header Options

Hey folks, wanted to start a(nother) thread on exhaust options.

I know it seems like a lot of guys run the OEM EFI manifolds and the walker Y-pipe. All those parts new would be around $150-180 from what I've seen.

Hedman makes a long-tube in steel that comes with non-high temp temporary paint that runs about $250: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-89300/make/ford

Hedman also makes what appears to be the same header with ceramic coating that runs about $550: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-89306/make/ford

Clifford Performance makes one that is around $460: https://cliffordperformance.net/stor...-truck-headers

I recently came across this header for $272 (on sale, regular shows as $485): https://www.protuninglab.com/hds-fpu...SABEgKBvfD_BwE

Doe anyone have experience with this company and especially this header in particular? It shows to be stainless steel, which I have always heard is better than painted steel and exterior ceramic coated (though probably about the same as a high quality fully ceramic coated header). For $272, it looks like a heckuva deal.

What are y'alls thoughts? I might go ahead and ****** one up for the 1983 F-100 that I am planning to rebuild throughout this year.

Accidentally posted this in the 80-86 Thread, but wanted to hear y'alls thoughts.

I prefer the EFI dual exhausts for the street. When used in conjunction with the original head pipes (which are a low grade, thick wall stainless steel tubing) you will have a durable exhaust that probably doesn't even give up 5 hp to long tube headers.

What's your opinion of the Stock HD manifold? I feel like you've spoken against them before, but couldn't remember what you said about it. I heard they flow better than the stock and almost as good as the efi manifolds. But I've never seen any numbers posted for the various options.

I will be painting the underhood and dressing it up to look a bit nicer. I wanted to steer away from the stock EFI manifolds. Every set I have seen have been rusted to crap. I think the stainless steel would look nice under there, especially with the Offy 4 barrel intake manifold and a nicely painted block/accessories.

Also wanting to go with the 268 Comp cam, a slight bump in compression, rebuilt heads and shortblock. And a Holley Sniper 2300 in the near future. I have one on my 1995 Mustang 351w swap and it's been pretty sweet.

I have never used one. As far as I can tell the head pipe portion is no different from the LD head pipe portion. Granted, the outlet is larger. Does that make it better? Is the LD outlet too small for the runners that feed into it? Is it worth giving up the exhaust heat control valve of the LD manifold for one with no heat control valve to get the bigger outlet of the HD? If the outlet was the size of a toilet would it flow even more? The head pipes "crash into" the log portion at right angles - is that good?
The EFI head pipes sweep downward and merge rather nicely into the outlet(s).

I'd love to see dynamometer test results comparing the two, or at least drag strip e.t. slips to determine the differences. That may allay my skepticism.
Or not.
