Dealer installed remote start

So I’m thinking about getting a remote start installed from the dealer. I’m hoping this gives me the functionality I want over aftermarket. I have a 2019 STX F150.

I’m curious if anyone has any experience with the dealer installed remote start. Will this work with the ford pass app? Also are you able to unlock the vehicle with the motor running and then just turn the key to drive or does it require you to shut the truck down and then restart upon entry?

Thanks

So all of my trucks have had it installed when I bought them off the lot. In regards to then unlock then just turn the key, yes. If you remote start, just unlock and get into the truck and turn the key to the run position. Can be a tad annoying with the push to start trucks, as its not uncommon to forget that you remote started and then be confused why it doesn't want to go into gear haha. For the ford pass, I believe the truck has to have FordPass modem which in me just quick configuring an STX, was standard equipment. I can only assume that it would access remote start from phone etc. Might be a chance the dealer has to turn it on with the software, but Im not 100 percent sure.

You might make sure it is a factory system, or you could end up with having to tote around two remotes. I’ve seen that before and I don’t like to have extra things in my pockets. .

Mine has the push to start button and I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten that I remote started. My parking lights come on when remote started and you hear the engine when you walk up.

No you won't be able to start it with a app. I suggest doing a aftermarket no horn honk remote start. Remember all the remote starts are plug and play and take less than 5 mins to install. You also use the original key.

Thanks for the replies. Do the aftermarket remote starts require you to shut the engine off, unlock the truck and then restart it? That’s a huge turnoff for me.

No the plug and play remote start kits keep the engine running for up to 15 mins. You can unlock and insert the key and the engine stays running with no restart required. The only exception is if you hit the brake pedal before you turn the key this will shut off the truck. The plug and play kits work the same as OEM and all the settings will be available in the instrument cluster for ajustment.
