You have seen my posts about “Old Blue”, the crusty 1965 long bed I’m working on.
Well, common replacement parts like shocks, glass pack mufflers, bushings, etc. have been coming from Amazon.
Well, when I bought my shocks, I saw the option to buy them “Used”.
Who the Hell would buy used shocks? I had to look.
“Used”, apparently means damaged packaging, open box return, and maybe some skinned paint. Still get free shipping.
I saved $25 on a set of 4 Monroe gas shocks, $12 on a pair of Thrush glass packs, and a few bucks on radius arm bushings.
If you buy from Amazon, look for the used option. It may save some bucks on parts that aren’t going to be visible anyway.
I started shopping for wheels and tires about a month ago. I knew what I wanted for tires and after some looking around I picked the admittedly old school wheels. I checked prices everywhere including Amazon of course but couldn't get the package I wanted for under a grand, and still would need center caps and lugnutz, another$70.
so I started looking at Craigslist and lo and behold there was a set of used wheels in my size and style. Bam $50 for 5 wheels and 4 centercaps, plus five shot out tires.
I get started cleaning up and painting the wheels while browsing CL and found a set, of five, tires in the size I want. $260 delivered. I had already ordered my lugnutz, and have a tire machine and balancer at work . $340 and I'm rolling deep!
