Since its only a matter of time before you get to replace manifolds and deal with rusty fasteners in the north, would it be wise to replace them before its too late. Like every 5-7 years or X amount of miles? Id rather be able to replace the bolts and studs and manifolds vs broken off rusted studs late in my trucks life. Plus they are not that expensive.
I don't think I would replace perfectly good manifolds. If you are worried about the bolts/ studs (and I get it!) just take them out one at a time, put anti seize on the threads and reinstall. If a manifold ever does break the fasteners should come right out.

and too that point, you could do that every few years since i know it wears off or whatever.
What does it say about our trucks when "it's only a matter of time before you get to change manifolds"? My 2012 with 70K on the ODO has a cracked drivers side manifold. To me that's inexcusable on a truck designed to tow.
Seems to haunt most truck manufacturers. On my 06 2500HD it wasnt cracked manifolds, it was the front and rear manifold bolts snapping flush with the head and warping the manifold. Some disassembly and a welder got out quick but was a pain. I
I'm have the mindset of if it isn't broke don't fix it . I was born and raised in northern Minnesota and yes rusted manifold nuts, studs and manifolds is a fact of life in the rust belt and because of the drastic temp changes along with the chance of getting cold water splashed up on hot manifolds cracked manifolds will happen. I dreaded doing valve jobs because of rusted manifold nuts and in most cases would pull the heads with then attached and remove the nuts after. If you want to remove rusted nuts without breaking the studs cut the side of the nut off as close to the threads as possible and use a 6 point socket to remove it or cut two sides of it off. When I repaced the manifold gasket on my 4.6 I used this method on 6 of the unbroken studs in the truck.
