Hello, I'm looking at buying an excursion. I have found a 2003 V10 and 2002 7.3. I do not tow at all but I just want one because of how they look and they are the King of all SUVs ever made. So I drive around 35000 miles annually a lot of highway miles. I see one 2003 V10 listed for 16k with 100k miles and a 7.3 2002 rust-free with 190k miles for 24k. I would like my future excursion to last me as long as possible. My budget will allow me to get both but I'm just not sure which one is better for me. I've been trying to decide for the last 2 months but I still haven't been able to decide. Thank you for any help you guys provide.
they both sound a little high priced to me but they are getting rare. my vote would be for the v10. i got 297 on my v10 excursion before it gave up. not apples to apples but my 7.3 powerstroke van gave up at 235. with additional maintinance ,initial investment and economy gain i didnt see the savings
If you travel on roads all the time, I would select a 2 wheel drive, in either case. You will get more miles per gallon and less maintenance. I would go with the one with the least amount of rust/damage and the one with the more complete service record.
Gas vs. Diesel is a personal thing.
You are right: they do look cool. 😎
A fool and his money soon part ways, the prices people are asking for these trucks are insane. Don't buy someone's "baby," buy that gas sucking pig they can't get rid of! V10's can still be had for a couple of grand in decent condition!
Thank you, I'm leaning towards that one. I was just looking at a video on youtube https://gyazo.com/e1490016f6f99c23984be3005be0dc2f and basically the same miles in 2012 sold for 17k. I might have to offer them a few thousand less. It is from texas so rust free. As much as I want a diesel, this v10 seems like the one.
You are right, I just have to keep looking around.
What do you guys think is too high mileage for a V10?
I just found an 05 V10 with 155k and they are asking 11k for it.
