I have a 2000 Excursion with a V10. It will crank fine but no start. There were no symptoms leading to the start failure. I have 34psi at the fuel rail and I have spark. I have swapped the cam sensor. There are no codes coming up. I have installed a new fuel pump and fuel filter. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
It's not fuel pressure. The "spec", per the factory service manual, for KOEO is 35-45 psi (KEOR is 28-45 psi). 34 psi, while less than optimal and within the margin of testing error, is not going to cause a "crank, no fire" symptom at initial startup.
The FPR, if damaged internally, might be leaking fuel back into the vacuum line and causing a flooded condition. Disconnect the vacuum line and check for fuel in the line.
Is your PATS happy? If not, you will have your exact symptom indicated by a fast-flashing THEFT light at key-on.
Try shooting some flammable spray into the intake while cranking and see if you get some firing. If so, you have an issue with the injectors not firing (which is how PATS disables the engine).
I plan on replacing FPR since it is accessible now that I have IAC removed for cleaning. The theft light turns off after key is turned on. I have checked fuses related to PATS. I have tried spraying carb cleaner and it did not fire at all. I replaced crank position sensor. While doing this I noticed a possible Freon leak at the ac compressor. I cleaned and dried out the crank sensor connection. Thank you, Larry
If it won't fire on carb cleaner, then you have a problem with spark, timing, compression or air supply. It's not related to the fuel system, including PATS.
I have spark at the coil. I plan on replacing IAC(cleaning did not seem adequate). I have voltage to the injectors. I have ordered noid lights to check coil and injectors more accurately. Is there a way to check if computer is functioning correctly? Thanks, Larry
My V10 excursion cranks but won’t start. I have a new starter, new alternator, and a new battery in it and it still won’t start. I also replace the spark plugs and coil springs
Regarding PATS, as I understand it, key on light off if working. At present I have no pats light. I do have power at injectors. I have spark at coil. Not sure what IAC Is. Idle blank control??. Nothing at all when spraying into THB. Could it be PATS?? If so, can you please give me detailed instructions on how to check the PATS system or diagnosis.
Thank you, this has veen the only place who seems to understand what the issues are.
