I am looking to put a XLT steering wheel in my XL. Are the XL trucks wired to accept the XLT wheel? I’m looking for the volume controls and I have the adaptor for the controls hooked up to my radio. Just wondering if this would work?

 

From what I can see on the 2016 steering wheel right side audio/sync control switch, steering wheel and clock spring appears the same for the XL and XLT. I do not know if there is a difference in the Steering Wheel Control Module or the dash wiring to the radio. I think Sync is only needed for the phone controls not the volume.

I would do more searching for this mod with google or another search engine on the web.

 

My '11 is an XL but has the volume and phone controls.

Doesn't answer your question but I'm just pointing out your terminology may not be entirely correct and that might hamper your search. IOW I wouldn't pose it as an XL vs XLT issue
