I bought a 2017 F450 the day after Christmas last year. Had 121,000 miles. Lariat, very nice. As I played with the bells and whistles, I realized that as long as I’d leave the heated steering wheel on it doesn’t heat up. I’ve tried looking up online a little bit but no luck. I checked the fuse but it was ok. Any suggestions?
I was under the impression the heated steering wheel was only a King Ranch or Platinum option and was not available on the Lariat, XLT or XL.
You are correct at least according to the order guide. For the Jan 2017 printing, heated steering wheel was only offered with KR and Platinum.
Does the heated steering wheel icon show on the Sync 3 screen for non heated steering wheel trims? (surely not...) I don't know where it is activated on the SD but I use Sync 3 to activate it on my 2017 Fusion.
Even in the 2013-2016 trucks with heated steering wheel, it was activated via the Climate Control section of the "radio". Not sure about the 2011-2012 trucks.

Well, never mind. Correction, the Lariat Ultimate package apparently has it... Back to troubleshooting discussions.

Does the red light activate in Climate on the Sync 3 (NAV) screen button?
It does light up on the climate screen. I feel like what happened is the previous owner would use the remote start a lot and never turn off the heated wheel. That’s my theory at least. I don’t know what could wear out though.
It has wear to it but nothing excessive. The leather is used but still in good shape. There’s a couple of light scratches on the silver plastic on the wheel from a ring or something. I don’t think that’s the case.

Still do not think it is part of the Lariat Ultimate Package. Still only a part of King or Platinum.

I was thinking if the steering wheel is pristine, maybe it was replaced with a Lariat non heated. 100,000 miles plus would show some wear.
