So I was hoping you'd get more responses as I haven't actually done it on a modern SD, but I can't see why it wouldn't be quite straightforward. The biggest thing w these swaps is finding a donor to get everything for the linkage, floor shifter, accordian boot, etc.
I'm not sure if you'll get any error lights on the dash, and I don't know if they can be programmed out w Forscan if so - again, not that helpful but BTT for ya
I was planning to do this to my '08 F350 but the cratered 3V V10 made the decision for me. Was thrilled when I found an '11 with a lever on the floor, no vac hubs and a driver-selectable rear locker - as God intended!
Please follow up if you do this -- I just can't see any reason the MECHANICAL side of it won't be plug 'n play. Simply amassing all the parts is 3/4 of the battle I'd say
Real question is why? My dad had a 2000 F350 with electric tcase and my 2004 F350 has it also. NEVER once had a problem, I cant say for my dad but I religiously since buying my truck new in 04 click the switch to 4wd high ONCE a week while driving. Go about a mile or two then flick it back to 2wd, this keeps the motor moving and everything in good condition. The hubs on the other hand SUCK with all the vacuum leaks etc, so I simply installed OEM manual lock hubs and every other year I pull them apart and clean and regrease. If it wasnt for the vacuum leak problems this system would be PERFECT

It doesn't take a lot of times without engagement for someone to write that system off pretty quickly.
