My ‘73 F100 with a 390 has a sensor attached to the radiator support on the driver side. The engineering number on it is D1AV-19518-A1A. Googling that number indicates that it may be a sensor for the EGR system. Does anybody know for sure?
You have (or had) factory A/C. That's part of the A/C system. It's an ambient temp sensor. Later systems didn't use it.
From the MPC:
Thermostat assy., Air conditioner evaporator temperature control
Fits: 73-74 F100-350 w/ integral A/C, located in front of condenser core
P/N D0VY-19618-A Motorcraft P/N YH-121

Yes, the truck originally had factory A/C. The compressor and condenser are missing now but still have the evaporator, brackets, etc..
