I would like to change the transmission fluid, following Mark K’s procedure. My question is, do I need to bring the trans up to operating temperature or can this be done cold, in 70* garage without warming up the trans temp? If the transmission needs to be warmed up I will have to wait until spring as I am not driving the truck on the salt laced white roads. My thought is since the engine is on and transmission pumping fluid, it should be fine doing this cold, but I’m not positive. Thanks in advance for any advice.
From what i know of those of you with autos, you have to have them running to check fluid levels. I would assume that also means @ temp, but most auto dipsticks I've seen have hot and cold lines on the stick.

I’ll have to keep that in mind. I am going to change the fluid soon while it’s cold. I will have to put a post it note on the steering wheel to remember to check the fluid level when I drive the truck in the spring.
