obtw.... i personally think you guys should all be on the payroll. whether or not i agree with your position is irrelevant, i just feel you are being taken advantage of if you are not getting paid for your hard work
personally (and for the cheerleaders amongst you, no need to start a war of words), but ANY comments from a salesman (0VERKILL) or a distributor (D0NAH0E) should be taken with a HUGE grain of salt..... they have a single purpose.... to sell a product (some may want to promote their company, some may want to promote their highest margin markup item).
While swallowing that grain of salt might I suggest you always consider the credentials of those offering their opinions. Not all opinions are created equal. My opinions are supported by 20+ years of experience designing, building and racing trucks. I have done research and development for a major race shock manufacturer and won National Championships. I have built award winning show trucks and have been featured in most major truck related publications. I write tech articles for Truckworld Online and do chassis design consulting. And of course I have lifted dozens of dozens of trucks. What this means is that not only do I know what it takes to bolt on a lift kit, I understand the engineering behind it's design. Some do see the value in my opinion. Please weight that against the credentials (?) of my detractors.
But not to worry Abendix, I no longer offer opinion/technical support in this forum.
I would disagree with those who tell you to go big on the lift. I tried 5.5" Fabtech, 6" Skyjacker and I'm back at a 4.5" Edge hanger lift with stock springs.
On shocks - they don't work if your springs have no flex. The BIG companies are generally buying cheap steel for their spring packs that has little if any flex. If you are 20 something years old and have the spine for it - go with a big lift and some big tires - you only live once. If you are forty something like me - get a hanger lift, some bilsteins and enjoy your truck.
Oh - and don't forget - any of these lifts are gonna screw up your driveshaft angles and create vibration.
0VERKILL.... i applaud your long list of accomplishments. as a businessman myself, i totally understand your position here, i too would not offer myself as a constant free resource if i were not able to turn it around into a buck.
i also understand simple econnomics.... the larger the margins, the more a salesman makes.
i understand a few other things..... but as a simple man with few credentials, i will keep those to myself.
How can u applaud his accomplishments in one breath and call him a salesperson to be taken w/ a grain of salt in the next. Next thing I know you'll be sayin u said that to try and help me!
tankhead..... good to see you called up 0VERKILL, good to see him back.
wow... you really have a hard on for sales people.... all i was saying was that they usually have a hidden adgenda..... no, maybe i mispoke.... they have an ADGENDA.... it is called making money!
that said, it doesn't mean a salesman can't be articulate, well versed, and knowledgeable about a subject.... but bottom line, they are in business.... if they don't do their job they don't make money. pretty simple economics actually.
as far as helping you..... sounds like you already made up your mind..... and really, i am offering no help... just the simple point that there are many alternatives and money can be saved while getting a great product by exercising your options.
christ man..... if you ain't getting paid for your BLATANT advertising for his shop and the products he pitches, i hope someone smacks you around a bit for not having any financial sense! enjoy yourself and spend ten times for your lift kit (or whatever the premium is for the over priced product he sells).

tankhead.... something i have rarely if ever been the perpetrator of is this type of thing,
Hmmmm...you never done that type of thing......I remember being told by you to keep my Edge and Donahoe opinions elsewhere where the people like those posts....or something like that..........
As you can see that almost worked
And wouldn't telling tankhead
wow... you really have a hard on for sales people....
