Early spring

The marmot Phil from Punxsutawney predicts an early spring this year! Very good - can’t wait to get the truck back on the road

Interesting that you follow Phil. Groundhog Day started here in PA by early German settlers. I believe there was a similar tradition in Germany but with another animal that was not found in PA so they used the common groundhog or woodchuck.

Your Groundhog Day makes it to the news here in Germany every year again. Once there was a movie with Bill Murray that made that event very popular here. Our ancestors used a badger instead of a groundhog.

In Oklahoma it was 72 degrees yesterday. There is 4-6” of snow predicted tomorrow! Our first snow will be 48 hours after a nice spring day!

59º yesterday so Henry came out for a romp. What a really nice truck. Drives great and tight! No rattles that one would expect in a 69 year old truck. And kicked in the 4 barrel and man did he go! Can't wait for cruising season. And because the groundhog didn't see his shadow means nothing. There are still 6 weeks to spring. But on a positive note, Daytona is just around the corner and spring training opens soon as well.

Later!
Mr. Ed

It’s the same here in Germany. Lot’s of rain the last weeks with flooding in southern parts due to extreme rain during the last days. Instead the northeast is dry for months and yearns for rain. Crazy world.

Ha! We were invited over to our German friends' home for New Years Eve this year to watch "Dinner for One"... It's crazy how an old UK comedy sketch got so popular in Germany, but that's how it goes sometimes! Same procedure as every year, eh?

Hi Pete how are you? Do you make progress with your truck or did you already finish that job. I didn’t have seen pics lately.
Well, maybe Phil is right this year at least for where I live. Very high temperature today, yesterday I saw troops of migrant birds flying high in the sky - a good sign. In addition to that our dog and our cat literally shed their fur. Until now they always were right...

I posted this in another thread. It was taken 2 weeks ago on Feb 2nd. Our daffodils usually don't push up this early. WE haven't had a real warm spell but it hasn't been real cold except for the last couple of days.

A lot of people look for the return of Robins. Cool bird, but they gotta be dumb as a post, don't use those as guide. I've seen them looking pretty miserable over the years after late snowstorms. Oops. What actually works are Turkey Vultures, who require warmer air currents to glide on as they hunt for carrion.
