Exclamation 2021 F-150 grille revealed - spy pics

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thre...-xl-grille.18/

New spy pics of the 2021 F-150.. I'm currently deciding whether to wait for the 2021 MY or pick up a current model. I like what I see so far of the new front end and i've read the interior is supposed to be game changer.

Looks like the front end will get more flat and blocky. Hard to tell with the camo and padding though. From the windshield back the cab sheetmetal looks like it might be the same as current models.

The bed looks like it may have more aggressively designed sides and the rear bumper is different. I imagine the tail lights and tailgate will change too.

You can't see the sides in any of those spy shots. If the sides are squared off, it would not be something that would appeal to me.

I don't see the IRS so many spoke of earlier. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 wheel Steering if, or when they introduce IRS to F150's.

We know one thing, given that the lower pics have two different style of wheels they're using the 2015+ lug pattern.

I don't like the way the ends of the rear bumper curve up and the one draped in black looks like it could be missing the tailgate. But, that's the point in having camo mules, to keep us guessing.

I’m curious about the bed being covered.... not normal on spy mules. Is it because:

a) the tailgate needs to be covered inside as well, because just wrapping over the tailgate would reveal a change coming to laugh in the face of GM and the Goat, or...

b) Monitoring equipment is in the bed....

c) Batteries are in the bed for testing the electric version...

d) The promised generator is in the bed for testing....

e) The aluminum bed interior lining is being tested as HDPE or another lining....

f) A new storage/ramp system is in the works...

g) or... the tester just made a serious beer run.

I would think IRS would seriously hamper the payload rating.

It KILLED Ram. We have a dealer in N. Illinois selling Ford and Dodge (Ram). The salesmen were astounded when we took a walk to look at payload ratings between trucks. Not a couple 100 pounds, but more like 500 pounds. It was insane.

Mine is a daily driver. But, I use mine as a truck. If they go IRS, I’m going to forced back to a Super Duty.

Would you guys prefer IRS or air bags like some of the Rams.

I think an IRS will find it’s way into a “certain engine and trim level” for the new F150.

IRS would require a different frame. I hope they don’t do coils (like Ram).

The Expedition has IRS and can be rated for 1/2 ton. The upside is that the bed floor would be a little lower. The down side is that payload would suffer, tires would wear more, more complicated and the need for 4 wheel alignments.

GM tried rear steering, it didn’t sell. GM did coil springs in the rear in ‘60-‘72. I would expect the rear to remain leaf springs with a solid axle, which is the preferred work set up. People aren’t buying Rams because of the coil springs.

The spied electric F150 from Mar '19 had an IRS setup. Of course, this is a test mule of some sort so who knows. Electric platform would be completely difference so I can't imagine easy swap over.

I like the decoy tailpipe...
