I don't claim to be an expert by any means but my girl is a 94 5.0 that was swapped to a 96 5.8....and the fuel injection was swapped for a carb for this very reason. The firing order is NOT the same on the two engines...my 94 5.0 was built in 05-94 and the 5.8 was built in 10-95
How does the VIN decode on that truck... what does it say the model year is? '94 was switch over date for the 5.0 with respect to firing order but the model year builds overlap the calander and there are always exceptions with these trucks so anything is possible.

That may be possible..but that's one reason the fuel injection was stripped for carb because the fuel injection timing was off from the 5.0
Actually the batch fired EFI system in that truck works with both engine firing orders so that wouldn't have been a problem.
That was the answer I was given as to why it was swapped when I bought it...but I do know for a fact about the dates on the engines, their size, and the timing order
