Remote start Questions

I just installed remote start in my 02. A couple of questions:
1- does anyone know where to connect to have AC/ heat while remote start is active? I will be looking at this while I’m finishing the install.
2- this remote start has the feature of not allowing you to grind the starter if the truck is already running. It does be using “ground only when running”. Does anyone know anything that would be grounded only when running?
Also, what would be a good PATS bypass to use?
Thanks for any assistance with these questions.

1. Circuits 1040 (Red/Black) & 687 (Gray/Yellow) coming off the ignition switch both need to be HOT IN RUN in order for the HVAC system to work.
2. Cant think of anything off-hand. Don't know anything about what you installed.
3. Use what I've called the "Redneck PATS Bypass". I often suggest it for folks who have only one PATS key, but it will also work with unsophisticated remote start systems

*The Redneck PATS bypass involves using one working PATS key, duplicated onto cheap non-PATS blanks if necessary, then mounting the working PATS key inside the dismounted PATS transceiver and stuffed up under the dash. Affix with duct tape for a true "redneck" touch. Use the common keys for everyday use. Note: Like anything "redneck" there are always potential future drawbacks, you can think of them yourself.

Thanks for the reply. I can manage the steps for the heater and AC. As far as the ground while running and the bypass, I think I’ll just get the correct module. Not sure why, but I think I’d prefer the PATS to function when needed.

Most inexpensive PATS bypass modules simply take a valid, programmed key, stuff it in a little box up under the dash, and piggybacks the signals to the transceiver via a wire loop. The redneck version simply eliminates the cost and hassle of doing it the "regular" way.

Back when these trucks were new we would pull the PATS transmitter from a working key and pull the receiver ring off the column. You glue the "pill" inside the ring and tuck it in the column. Then just use a regular key from there on out.
