Unhappy Odometer out

I've got a '99 F150 4.2L, Everytime I start in up the odometer is off, usually after a few minutes and/or miles it'll come on and stay on. If I turn it off and then right back on it's still off. Any suggestions as to fix'n this?

Thanks

Question

I have the same problem with a '99 F150, hope someone can help. Mine seems to come and go, may be heat related.

Unhappy

I have a 1999 F-150 with the same problem. Mine comes and goes. Sometimes it's fine and then it goes out. If you tap on instrument panel lens or dash it will flicker and either come on or go completely out. Hmmmm does it seem like maybe Ford has somewhat of a problem here. If anyone finds out any more info please post.

Check out some of the other posts, in the forum, just search for "Odometer" and it will come up. Basically we all need to replace our clusters for about $250. I am planning on getting a new truck as soon as the F150 comes out with a Supercrew with a 6.5' bed so I can live with it until then. One thing I have found is if you thump the dash right below the odometer it will come back on. BTW, I have a 2000 F150 with 76,000 miles on it.
