Installing a flatbed. How do I retain backup camera?
I have a 2019 F250 XL with the small screen radio but it does have the backup camera. I would like to continue to use that backup camera when I put a flatbed on it.
Since the camera itself is integrated into the tailgate handle, what are my options? I assume I need to buy a different camera and then somehow tap into the wiring harness?

Just not sure where to start.
Thanks.
check fords body builder site. There is information and part numbers for extension harnesses and cameras.
Or you can remove the handle and snag the camera along with the tailgate harness, drill a hole and mount it. I have done that on 2 trucks.
Had a similar issue with a work truck that had a service body installed. Found an aftermarket camera that plugged right into the factory connectors. Pretty easy.
Here’s some discussion on the topic. I had an extra camera and display collecting dust so I went that route with my flatbed on my previous Super Duty. I know using the factory display is doable though.
When I installed my flatbed I used the "Rostra Backup Camera Kit" on ebay, It was $170, plug and play with enough cable for me to run the new camera to the top of the headboard. The image quality isnt as good as factory, but its only noticeable during sunset sunrise times.
