water pump

How many miles can I expect a water pump to last. I've always kept up with replacing the fluid and the additive at or before the called for intervals. I had to replace the original at 99k while still under warranty and I now have 180K on the current pump. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Planning another cross country trip again this summer.

If it ain't leaking dont mess with it. Look atvthe weep hole to confirm theres no coolant seepage.

Agreed. Waterpumps usually do not have a catastrophic failure without giving some ample warning signs first. Run it!

pump could last another 100k or 1k. no guarantees

My weep hole had a steady stream, loosen rad cap (wasnt hot yet) and made it home.

WP isnt super expensive but repair on the road isnt fun.

What else to do while in there?

The sand in the casting of the motor helps destroy water pumps. They will last longer if you put on a coolant filter.

The Bird is right!

I expext my new WP to last and last since I have a filter. When I bought the truck, it had been replaced before but unknown when and unknown brand. I did an Alliant after gasket started leaking.
