Cowling vent

I am looking for some help on sanding, blasting and painting the cowling vents. I not sure how to get into that area. Do i need to remove the dash to get to the vents or is there another way?

As far as I know from the cowl to the A-pillar only small cuttouts

I'm always interested in discussions about the cowl vents. I'm sure glad Ford decided to galvanize (or otherwise coat) the metal of the later trucks to protect from rust. I'm still going to have to cut holes in my later truck ('79) to make it easier to remove debris, but I have not had to deal with any deterioration of the metal.
Yet...

Good luck!

The only way to get in there is to drill the air boxes off. Then you can get in there with a wire brush and some POR15.

The A-Pillar is an area that needs to be cleaned out every so often. Pull the kick panel vents and make sure it is free of anything that could block the drain holes in the bottom.

I believe that he is referring to the cowl area in front of the windshield, not the pillar. There really isn’t any ready access. I would clean it up enough to accept paint. That is, take it easy with the sandblasting because whatever metal you expose will require subsequent protective coating. You may want to mask the louvers when you apply your initial paint, otherwise, by the time you get enough paint into the cowl area, you may have drips on the louvers. Remove the masking for your final coat. There may be other suggestions...
