removing coolant crossover bar
Hi, I have a 2002 Ford Excursion 5.4 L gas engine. I've got coolant leak and local mechanic shop told me I need to replace gasket under the coolant crossover bar. Does anyone know if I can remove the bar without having to remove the air intake manifold with it? Thanks!

No, the intake must come off to access the crossover retaining bolts from underneath. Closely inspect the area where the crossover gaskets sits, for any cracks or broken plastic. If any breaks are found you may have to replace the intake manifold itself.

I'm not familiar with Excursions but if they use the same intake as expeditions and f150's and you have to replace the intake you may want to try and find a 99 only aluminum PI intake they directly replace the plastic intake and eliminate the heat related issues that go with the plastic.
