fuel filter question

I have a 93 7.3 idi. been having a starting problem like I posted earlier. my fuel filter is not old, it is a autozone duracraft with the plastic bowl on the bottom. Im considering switching to the wix that eliminates the plastic bowl but has the sensor on it. I think I may have a leak at the bowl where
the water sensor plug warning is. any suggestions are appreciated. it is better to go without the plastic bowl or not. Im definitely getting a wix one way or the other.
thanks guys

IF you go the WIX with the WIF sensor that would be PN WIX 33617 and then the WIF sensor is BWD FSS113 (at least I think this is the one that fits)

not sure what WIF sensor you have in your Plastic Bowl and if it will work with the above mentioned 33617..... the 33617 comes with the 'O' ring for the sensor but not the sensor.

the WIX 33417 fits with no WIF sensor.... pretty much discussed here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...separator.html

Personally I prefer the OEM as the WIX filters are 15 bux or less ... the other Wix Filters will cost more than the OEM and that sensor ain't cheap for just being a Piece of plastic with a length of All Thread sharpened to a pencil point in it ....

particles larger than 10 Microns will damage the injection pump.... MotorCrap Wix and Fram do not filter down to that level.......Period

Most Diesel fuels at the Pump are filtered to 5 Micron in the USA

the hatred of Fram Filters is BS they are as good a filter as any other ... it all internet marketing Hype a load of Crap.......

IF you exceed the life of any filter it's on you ....

And besides it's the oil filters that they bitch about not fuel filters LOL the campaign was started by Wix who couldn't make a filter as efficient as the Fram over 25 years ago..... SMH IF they were really that bad they would have been sued out of existence like Sears

I've disassembled many Fram oil filters and have never found anything out of the ordinary, I think all the hype and videos is from people who never change there oil..

Any filter is good enough in my opinion, just change the thing on a regular interval, a better filter will clog quicker anyways causing more harm since most think they last longer

I agree with the notion of changing filters on schedule. And, I am sure there are countless examples of guys with high-mileage trucks running every conceivable filter.

I don't agree, however, that the filters are all the same. When I take a Fram and a Fleetguard apart, I see more robust springs, bottom plates, and seals in the Fleetguard. While this thread is about fuel filters, I suggest that this TDR article is a worthwhile read:

You can replace the fuel bowl too. There's a less expensive option than the oem metal unit.Complete with water sensor and everything.Parker sells a clear, plastic one part#21057.
I put one on my F-super duty (F-450).

the stock wif sensor will unscrew from the oem fuel bowl. then you can put it in them wix filter with the supplied o-ring. each filter change you just move the sensor to the new filter
