I recently had my thermostat replaced on my 1999 powerstroke and it is not maintaining a high enough temperature. My mechanic wants to replace it with the same thermostat that he says Ford is recommending which is a 192 degree thermostat. However some of the web sites that I have searched is saying it should be a 197 or 203 degree thermostat. What is Correct?

I run the 203 thermostat as I have for the past 6 years. Most of the time when my truck is on the road, it has a 5th wheel attached to the *** end. Most of the time when the 5th wheel is attached to the *** end we are taking it someplace far from home. The furthest we have had it so far was from our home in northeast GA to Seattle WA and back.

As David said, you are not happy now, so go higher until you find your happy place.
