Since I had a problem with my WinME OS, I figured it wouldn't be such a bad idea to start backing up files. I've started with my mp3's. The thing is that I can only get about 150 mp3 files on one 700 Mb CD-R disc. I was thinking that more should be able to fit on a disc. I'm using Adaptec Easy Cd Creator: Data Cd program. Is there something that I'm doing wrong? Is there an easier way to save all my files to a CD-R? Any help is appreciated.
Your OS crashing wouldn't deleat your MP3s. But backing up is always a good idea. I usually backup once a year, through a linux program, but when i used windows I backed up using Norton or the Windows Backup program, it would usually take 20 CDs to backup everything, but the one time my system crashed, I was glad I had the backup.
I back up important stuff to CDs and I have a second PC I cloned from the first, I also have an external USB drive. I used Norton Ghost to clone the PC/drive, that way I have a completely bootable identical system. The external usb drives are about the best backup they are fast, and nowadays cheapest and easiest, and they are easier than PCs to upgrade, just pop open the box and install a bigger drive. Norton ghost will clone a drive to a larger drive without having to do weird assed partition adjustments with something like partition magic, I've been there also. Iits a pain using some cheap clone program that will clone a smaller drive to a larger one and leave the remainder of the larger drive inaccessable untill you can readjust the partition with yet another piece of software. I have even installed a second drive into a work computer and used Ghost to clone the drive, I keep it updated and If my C drive turns t&^s up then I just yank it out and reboot to drive two.
