And how long has it been since Ford used the full script "FoMoCo" logo? That looks really old!
I can't say for certain, but 1/2" thick seems too thin for a pilot bearing/bushing.
Water restrictor makes sense from the material, but still seems an odd size.
But have you ever had a 351 Cleveland in anything SeaCarr? I didn't think the restrictors were used in the M and 400, but I think someone here recently mentioned that they were.
Maybe that was only for the first year? Seems I remember that all the 351M's and 400's in trucks already had a cast-in restrictor below the thermostat. But as usual, I could be wrong!
First thing I thought of when seeing it (but not by the material) was damper bolt washer. But even at that, the marks on it don't look like something that was held under the head of a bolt. Looks more like something was clamped to it with a bolt perhaps, but not the head of the bolt, or nut itself.
Interesting pattern in it's face. What does the other side look like?
This is fun! We need to start a whole "Guess This Part" thread.
Cool to get a confirmation. Or at least close to it by the measurements. Thanks DB.
What about that outside diameter though. Is your 1.75" measurement spot on SeaCarr? Not the same as 1 17/32" but at least it shows that a pilot bearing can be near that size.
Does that make it an FE part? A '71 vintage truck part could be Windsor, FE or 385, correct? Anything else was coming in trucks around then?
Seems like the Windsors were much deeper than 1/2 inch.
The part would probably be from a '73 390 FE or maybe a '59 292. The back side has a lateral line across the center (for oil?). The "FoMoCo" side has been lightly scored like it may have been a thrust washer. Measures .65 X 1.875 X .500 as best I can measure. I am preparing to reassemble my '59. Going through all my old parts boxes to see what parts I have, what is usable and what not. This little jewel seemed better than usual.
That thing is just too cool for school no matter what it is!
A workbench work of art in my opinion and a brand new one should be sourced for your build. I just like the old script if nothing else.
