I don't understand "I have clear coated to keep her patina". Patina is the result of the natural aging process. It either is or isn't. There is no saving it, only destroying it. You don't walk into the museum and clearcoat the Mona Lisa to keep it from cracking more. What is wrong with these people?
That isn't a project. That's a get in and go truck.
Wichita isn't too far from me. We lived there for 5 years. (Side note B1B's flying low with full afterburners on at night is a sight and sound to behold. We lived 1/2 mile West of the flight line.)
Now that it's clear coated, if you want to paint it nice, you have a ton more work. I don't understand that either.
With a 3.50 rear, I could drive that home....and have to live in it.
Abe, thanks for the link to the '54.
At this time I'm looking for my next project to be a short bed. Preferably a '56 since I've done a '51 and currently have a '49. A '56 short bed would be ideal.
The reason for the shorter wheelbase this time is that the used lift I put in my garage is situated in a corner that doesn't give much room for a longer vehicle. The F3 just fits and doesn't leave much room to walk behind. Would love to have that 2 feet of space to work in. And of course short beds are cool.
The F350 in that link is pretty nice. If it were mine, yep I'd splash the meadow green to it. Whoever buys that will be happy just as it is at that price.
If any of you guys have a '56 project you won't be getting around to, shoot me a message.
Tom
The auction price on that '54 still looks good today if any of you guys are thinking of a F-350.
Abe, since you are on my payroll apparently, I'd better mail you out a W-4 form right away.
Keep up the good work!
Today I'm in North Carolina to be with my Mom for her birthday, we will go out for a drive and yes, I'll be peering into backyards and back fields for any potential truck finds. My mom will be an extra set of eyes. She gets it.

I don't want a W-4 form. This work is strictly under the table. You can pay me in cash or in lobster and honey.

A short bed would be nice and of course a 56 IS the best looking!
Joe, that seat would be tough to fit in the overhead bin of the plane when I go home on Saturday. Might get some nasty looks from the other passengers! I have a layover in Charlotte too, right where WNDOPDLR is located. That seat would be great for someone nearby who is restoring a 48-52. I left him reps for the good gesture! Hope someone here takes him up on the offer.
Today I took my mom on a 100-mile road trip out to Cedar Island ferry. My neck hurts from swiveling back and forth looking for old iron pickups. I saw some old 70's Chevys, 80's Nissans, and 80's-90's Fords that were in view, but nothing from the 50's. I'd say the area is picked clean. Been coming here since 1992 and there used to be more to see in backyards and field edges. Saw a lot of hurricane damage instead.
I'll keep looking for a project. One is bound to show up somewhere.
