A guy I work with has a '78 F250 SuperCab long bed 2wd manual trans, unknown engine. It was his Grandpa's and he's not a car guy, just curious what it is worth? I imagine it could have anything from a 300 6 cylinder to a 460 V8 in it.
We'll, need a little more info if you can provide it. Miles, condition, rust, garaged, sitting outside? I see from your profile you're in PA. Rust level is going to be the biggest factor in valuation. Then if its been sitting for 25 years or has it had regular maintenance and upkeep and annual PA inspection will be another factor. Best if you can post a couple pics
It's been garage kept for a while, not exactly sure how long. The 2 photos I saw was extremely rust free for a '78 Ford. I can ask about mileage. I don't know if much maintenance was done to it, I think it's just sat for years, he did say it runs and drives.
Well I was considering a 4wd swap which was my interest. I found a '78 f250 4x4 for parts on Facebook marketplace for $600 that has everything I need for the swap.
Is the 78 F250 4wd a SC also? So you are putting the good body 2wd body on the 4wd running gear? Or are you thinking you can out the 4wd front end stuff under the 2wd frame?
No the one I found was a regular cab. I was thinking of just swapping the parts over, not a body swap, although a body swap would probably be easier if I could find a SuperCab 4x4 frame.
X200 on the above statement. I just sold (more like gave away) a 95% complete 79 F250 SC LB with title, fresh rebuilt C-6. Had a NP-205, Dana 60's front and rear. Yea NO motor and the common cab rust on the SC part for 1700 bucks. I sold a front Dana 60 axle that had the rest of the truck still connected to it. lol
Deals can be found for a 4wd SC frame and running gear.
76 extra-cab short bed 2wd, and it's blue on blue (love the truck and hate seeing it sit there for over a year) can be had for $500. At a tow truck / repair station in the middle of coos bay (or). All stock and has typical rust.
Go out of my way to avoid making eye contact with the poor 76 as I drive through town. Wish some one would take the dam truck home!
I went in and looked at that truck a couple of months ago. Has a good looking 6 but there’s rust throughout. It does have the narrow custom upper body molding and is a short bed. Its been there for a while and would be a good bomb around rig or parts due to the quantity of rot. Have you looked at? I know you need another rig.
Fjb1967 any thought on what theyd let it go for? It you have the room, the 4x4 would be a good parts rig for when you find a frame. All sc 4wd are leaf spring front, even f150. So just keep an eye out for one. Build your frame and running gear then do a swap.
Noticed the 76 at Moran's because the color, think it was a year ago. Didn't that truck come from Bandon and always left outside? Thought the poor thing was sold a couple times but it appears they just move it around some times. If you want rust free-ish you have to go out to the myrtlepoint ford grave yard and swindle the swindler. My 73 is all baby blue and I love the 2-tone blue's on that 76.
The only 73-79 being allowed onto property is going to be a 78-79 Bronco. No more trucks!
