Hello I have a 1987 Ford F-250 4x4. My wheels and tires are trash. So I saw a set for sale off of a 1997 Ford 4x4. Question is will they fit my truck. Thx David
If the 1997 4x4 is a light duty F250 they will not fit....that model shares the newer body style as the jelly bean F150 (10th Gen) with metric wheel specifications.
What about them won't fit Randy? Thanks Sandy Never mind I now see you were comparing to a 150.
Not an F-150, a '97 F-250. It has 7 lug wheels on a metric bolt pattern. Nothing about them will fit the older trucks.
However, '97 F-250HDs still share the old body style and the 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern. Those will fit an '87 F-250 or F-250HD.
For what it's worth, Ford never made anything they called a "light duty" F-250. They made an F-250 and an F-250HD. Up through '86 they were both badged (and usually called) "F-250". In '97 Ford's "better idea" was to have two completely different F-250s as noted above. At least in '97 they did put "heavy duty" on the tailgate of the F-250 HD.
'98 was slightly better than '97. There was no F-250HD (or F-350). Just the"jelly bean" F-150 and the matching F-250.
Then in '99 Ford straightened it all out by creating a new mess (but a mess that really didn't matter). They started calling the 3/4 ton truck "F-150 7700" (but just badged "F-150"). Meanwhile the F-250HD dropped the "HD" and was called F-250 SuperDuty. Which meant the name "Superduty" could no linger be used for the heavier-than-F-350 F-series. So they changed it to F-450 (and F-550)
