First time poster..I just bought a 1985 E-350 with various small issues, some electrical, some mechanical. So, I'm trying to remove the instrument panel pad (dash) to provide best access to wiring. I also can't get enough clearance behind the instrument cluster to disconnect it. The problem I'm running into now is how to remove the air vent on the right hand end of the dash. The plastic creaks and moans when I try to depress the 6 clips that seem to be holding it in but I don't want to crack it to pieces. Is there a special technique to pull out the vent or is it just brute force?
Never mind, I figured it out. I had to use a flathead to depress the clips on the left and right side of the piece with the fins/louvers. Then I had to pry out the 6 top and bottom clips holding in the grille.
