I am getting a no start condition - stopped suddenly. Had a few times where it was hesitating and had once where it was surging in reverse. It feels like it wants to start one in a while. I can hear fuel pump energizing . Very little fuel at the rail. Filter is new within about 6 months.
OK that was info from my Father in Law - its his truck and I have been kind of helping him lately with stuff. I don't think he has touched the pump. I just know that he doesn't take great care of things as evidenced by what I have seen. I took a look at the module and it looks very corroded - it broke down like 6 months ago and he has just now enlisted me to help him get it going. So if it was wet, it has dried out since. I can hear the fuel pump energize, and the only code I could pull was po446 for evap canister.
Ok so bear with me here it is 3 degrees out and I am trying to get this truck started. Replaced the fuel pump drive module. Same condition. Crank no start. Once in a while it kicks like it wants to start but just goes back to spinning. Fuse 27 is ok. Not sure how to check the relay. I can hear fuel pump energizing. As far as I know fuel pump has never been changed. Only thing I can see is that one of his workers must have been messing with it (he is a plumber ) and there are two of the coil boots that the small bolts holding them in are missing. Any ideas? The motor sounds a bit different while it’s spinning - but it does kick once in a while.
Does the CEL turn on when the key is in the “RUN” position?
Does the CEL turn off when the engine is cranking?
Does the tach move while the engine is being cranked?
