Greetings to all.
I just purchased and factory ordered a 2020 Super Duty Lariat.
Here is my question.
What's the process dealers follow to order a vehicle? What kind of experience have you had. I know it is going to be a very long wait for delivery of vehicle.
Salesman told me Pickup truck order was submitted. Dealer is waiting for Ford Order Banks to process order.
Please advice.
Congrats on your order. Just be patient, it will take roughly anywhere form 6-10 weeks from the date that Ford accepts the order and depending on what priority your dealer gets. Ask your dealer if they can get a higher priority number when they order it.
Get a copy of your order and look at the "priority code". From the research I did last summer, the "lowest" a dealer can assign is 10, and only the regional manager can assign a number below that. The lower the priority code number the better. Your wait is then determined by a combination of the priority code and the size of the dealership you bought at. The more volume a dealer has... the more production slots they get assigned.
The last truck I ordered was my ‘08 Super Duty. My dealer orders a higher than normal percentage if trucks and gets high priority numbers. The truck came in 5 weeks to the day after it was ordered. I don’t know how fast Ford is cranking them out today.
Great!
Guys, thank you for all your responses. I am understanding Ford ordering process a lot better. I haven't ordered a new vehicle sin 1982. I learned looooong ago, when ordering a vehicle your negotiation leverage if any, is greatly diminishes. Dealer told me will be 3 months waiting period. (yes, like waiting for a baby ha ha ha) but there is no commitment in a specific date. I have not seen yet the actual order and priority code. Sending an email to salesman right now.

Way off base Bluto....You must INSIST your dealer put you in at a :PRIORITY CODE 10" for your fastest production possible. Ordered my SD KR on 10/27 and I insisted on Priority Code 10 and picked up from dealer on 12/26!

The good thing is that rebates get better as the months go by, you get all the rebates available at the time of purchase. If it comes in durinf truck month you could get some decent discounts.
