airbag code 46
I'm getting an airbag fault code 46 for my 2001 Ranger. Does anyone know what it is or where I could find out what it is.

Drivers side pretensioner has either low or high resistance.

Thanks Ken for the info. Do you have any ides as what might giving me the high or low resisitance? Do you think it's the pretensioner or maybe a connection problem?

I would check the connection first, I'll get the manual out and see what I can find that you can do without a scanner.

It's either the pretesioner, wiring or the Restraint Control module. A scanner is needed to determine the exact cause.

Ken,

I have a scanner but nothing comes up when I plug it in. Am I doing something wrong?

What kind of scanner? If it only does generic codes that might be the problem, I'll check into it at lunch.

My Ford manual doesn't specify which are generic and which are Ford specific. The two possible codes are B1877 & B1885. I'm thinking that they are not generic codes, I would check the owners manual for your scanner to see if it can pull these types of codes.
