Hope someone can give me some guidance fixing the electric driver window before I resort to replacing the window motor.
Bought an '85 Bronco two years ago. Everything worked. Father in law used the truck for just over a year then we let it sit about 6 months at some property we bought. We brought Bronco home in May. Many items no longer worked.
I replaced the headlight switch and dimmer switch to get the headlights and rear window working again. Now I just have this problem with the driver window. Checked fuses and did not find any problem. In the fuse box are two metal cased fuses I am not able to diagnosis.
Can anyone tell me anything else to replace or check?
Thanks,
wes
the metal ones are not fues there most likly BREAKERS, they'll usualy trip then reset there self, first thing would be to remove the door panel put a test light on the leads to the motor and work the window swith to see if you have power to the motor. DW
yes i to would start by removing the door panel and testing for power at the motor. if you have power at the plug then the motor is most likely the culprit. when using the test light be sure to check the switch in both directions. one lead should go hot when you push the button one way and the other lead shoud go hot the other way. a lot of times the brushes get dirty in the motor and stop pushing on the armeture, sometimes the springs rust and break and the brushes are no longer held against the armeture.
